Pat Robertson? Meet Facts

The Virginian Pilot has an editorial article lashing out at Virginia's own Pat Robertson for his comments Sunday on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The article state how Republican nominated judges are a majority throughout the federal court system from the bottom to the top. Robertson singled out Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the interview and "explicitly implied" that she was a Communist. This editorial article points out the obvious that one judge out of 9 can hardly qualify calling the entire judiciary "out of control".

So what is Robertson's beef if 94 of 152 of federal appeals judges and 348 out of 650 judges were nominated by Republican presidents? The article hypothesizes that even they aren't conservative enough for him... that he's looking for a "particular brand of conservative jurist": One who dismantles separation of church and state, reverses Roe v. Wade, and one who "contains homosexuality and stem-cell research and would, as in the Terri Schiavo case, elevate a state interest in the extension of life above private interests".

The article concludes with a great statement that rings of truth: "The problem with the federal judiciary in Robertson’s world isn’t an overabundance of activism. It’s a lack of activism of the sort he wants."
