A personal spin on Tom DeLay's trips

This column shows how Tom DeLay passed on a real chance to help folks in the Northern Mariana Islands captial of Sapian and correct the corporate exploitation of workers there. Workers were paid $2.90 an hour and lived in guarded compounds so companies could sell clothes as "Made in the USA" at low prices. Federal intervention seemed to be the only thing that would help as many island politicians were in the company's pocket.

Now that trip is under scrutiny for an ethics violation. I'd contend that the real violation is being blind to injustice occuring there in Saipan. Hey, at least Tom DeLay had a good vacation!
